Found in Psalm 23: All-Sufficient Love

Found in Psalm 23: All-Sufficient Love

The Lord is my shepherd. I lack nothing. (Psalm 23:1)

I absolutely love this verse (partly because it’s super easy to learn and remember!), but mainly because it is so beautifully simple and yet at the same time incredibly profound.

This verse is a huge encouragement for us. God loves and cares for us, in the same way that a shepherd cares for each and every one of his sheep.

God, the creator and King of the entire universe, is interested in you. He delights over you. He watches over your life. He is with you, in every moment of this week ahead. He promises to give us all that we need, to do all that he has called us to do.

In God we have all that we need.

This verse is also a big challenge to us. It is so easy to chase after things that I think I need, rather than whole-heartedly trusting in God and knowing that He is all that we need. I like to think that I can get things done myself, achieve things, and control things. But God calls us to trust that because we have His love, we lack nothing. We already have absolutely everything we need.

What do I need to trust God with, this week?

Prayer

Father God, thank you that you love us and care for us so much more than we can even imagine. Thank you that you give us all that we need. Thank you that because of your love, we lack nothing. Please help us to trust in this truth, and know it in our hearts as we start this new week. Amen.
