Every Day Counts: Girls who praise their Creator

Every Day Counts: Girls who praise their Creator

It’s such a pleasure to welcome Tabby as another brand new More Precious contributor! I love her simple but beautiful post about praising God wherever and whenever we can, for His beautiful and glorious Creation. Let’s make every day count! Lx

Creation is full of God’s imagination. Think of the gorgeous skies at sunset, or the millions of beautiful, colourful fish in the sea. The design of the world itself shows that there must be a creator behind it. But I sometimes forget to thank God for the amazing world He has designed.

It is easy to think “that’s a beautiful beach”, for example, without thinking about the hands that made it, or see the sky, and not think of the God who created it. But this verse in Isaiah asks us to consider the creator behind the universe:

Isaiah 40:26 (NIV):
“Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.”

This verse also shows how God has looked over every detail of the earth, and that He is so powerful that everything works well – “none of them are missing”. I think we should tell God how grateful we are for designing the earth in such a creative and beautiful way.

Sometimes when we pray it can feel like a list of things we’re asking God for, but maybe the next time you pray, break up your requests with a few minutes of praising, and thanking God for His creation. He is such a powerful, creative God, so why not talk to Him about it, like David in this Psalm:

Psalm 8:3-4 (NIV):
“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?”

David is in awe of God’s imagination – and recognises that everything is the work of His hands, even the things we take for granted, like how the sun is the perfect distance away from the earth for us to live, or the amazing night sky, which we might not appreciate often enough as being God’s work, even though it is clear that it is no random accident.

It is also amazing that in such a massive universe, God still cares about people like us, even though we can sometimes feel so tiny compared to the whole world. So when you’re looking at something that is so beautiful that you think God must be behind it, praise him!

Thank God for such an incredible natural world, and for the fact that it glorifies Him, and proves how powerful He is.

Challenge

Listen to the song below, and re-read Psalm 8 (and/or watch the beautiful video!). Try to feel as in awe of creation as the Psalmist, and when you’re next in a place full of beautiful scenery, or see an amazing night sky, try and see the glory in God’s creation, and praise him for it, whenever you can!
