How to "Have It All"

How to "Have It All"

“The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.” Psalm 23:1

I absolutely love this Bible verse. It is so simple, yet so beautifully massive at the same time. It sums up the greatest truth there is - and in just 8 words.

If we’re honest, all too often I think we can get caught up with what we don't have, what we want more of, or the ways in which our lives aren’t quite as good as they could be. We desire more clothes, more holidays, more money, more time or more recognition - be it Instagram likes, becoming Head Girl at school or getting a promotion at work. We can want different/more interesting work, “better” friendships, or a healthier body.

I love that the simplicity of this verse completely cuts through all of this. It forces us to take our eyes off our circumstances, and fix them on something higher. Or to be precise - someone higher: Jesus Christ.

He is our shepherd, our redeemer, our King. In Him we have everything - more than we could ever ask for or deserve.

As Carl Lentz puts it: “The peace and fulfilment of Jesus is literally so good that your bank account can be empty, your body be sick and your heart be broken but it can always be well with your soul.”

- What is it that you feel like you ‘lack’ today?

- How does Jesus actually fill that gap and more?

- How can you fix your eyes on Him this week?
