Fresh Energy: Be A Starter-Finisher
Good morning girls! This morning we’re looking at energy; not just physical energy, but a refreshed look at where we get our energy from: our relationship with a powerful God.
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” (Isaiah 40:29)
How many times have you prayed, asking God to fix something in your life – and then given up after just a few days (or even hours) of seeing no change? I might be anxious about an exam, late for a train, or desperate for a friend to come to church with me – no matter what it is, I often forget God’s goodness far too quickly and fail to wait on the Lord and His timing.
My thought for us all this morning is to challenge ourselves to have fresh energy and to be “starter-finishers”. To wait patiently while God works (because He always does) and provides answers to our prayers. To remain confident in the promise of Psalm 27:13 – we will see the goodness of God.
But how do we keep the energy to do this? We draw from God and His Spirit, through a daily relationship. Intimacy with God will fuel our lives, giving us the spiritual energy we need to do all that God intends for us.
Like Jenny’s post a few weeks ago, we can trust that God does join the dots in our lives, even when we can’t see it at the time.
PHILIPPIANS 4:13 “I CAN DO ALL THIS THROUGH HIM WHO GIVES ME STRENGTH.”
This verse was written by Paul after he lists all he’s learnt and the relationship he’d cultivated with His Lord. Paul is an absolute champion of the faith and a hugely energetic individual, but remember that he always acknowledges where his strength and energy comes from.
God gave Paul the energy to do all the incredible work He laid out for Him across his life, and He will give us the same energy to do the tasks He gives us.
Let’s make up our minds to be ‘starter-finishers’ – to wait patiently on the Lord, drawing strength from His Spirit and refreshing our energy to live out His goodness in the world around us.
