Living The Full Life
John 10:10-ing it.
‘John 10:10-ing it’, as my friend once put it, is referring to when we live life to the full.
The verse reads:
‘The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full’. And surely nobody knows how we can live life to the full better than the one who created us! (John 10:10)
Jesus says ‘I am the way, and the truth and the life’ (John 14:6). By following him; by aligning our lives to the truth, we can have this fullness.
Maybe you already know Jesus as the truth and the way to full life, but I’m guessing that like me, you aren’t experiencing this fullness all the time or in every area of your life. So how can we be more aligned with the truth that brings full life? How can we be John 10:10-ing it?
The Bible reveals that an important part of this journey to full life, is in our thinking. Romans 12:2 calls us to ‘be transformed by the renewing of [our] minds’, and Proverbs 4:23 advises us to ‘be careful what [we] think because [our] thoughts run [our] lives’.
One of the ways full life is stolen from us is by letting lies settle in our minds and forgetting truth. God knows how forgetful we are, which is why He tells us to meditate on this book of the law day and night (Joshua 1:8) and to think about what is true… (Philippians 4:8). We have a choice over what thoughts we meditate on; over what we let settle in our mind and govern our lives.
Therefore, let’s actively choose to dwell on truth (God’s word), that it may govern our lives.
Let’s be immersed in it so we do not forget. Let’s be John 10:10-ing it!
