1. Your Call To Action: An ARMOURED Generation

Hello and welcome to our Autumn series 'ARMOURED!' Discover the vision behind this series today as Lucy takes us through it.

We can't wait to journey with you through the next 8 weeks! MP Team x

A huge welcome to ARMOURED: our brand new series for Autumn 2018; one we have been dreaming up for you all way back before the famous heatwave had even arrived!

The image of ‘armour’ might feel like a strange one to kick off with. You’re probably gearing up for a new school term, for freshers’ week, or for getting back in the zone at work – and ‘armour’ probably isn’t top of your mind. But we believe this is exactly the right time to think about how to prepare well for all that lies ahead of you this Autumn.

You might have got your stationery or new shoes in order – but have you sorted yourself out spiritually? Have you thought about the disciplines you want to invest into this year, to sharpen and protect your heart for all that might lie ahead?

ARMOURED is drawn from the truths of Ephesians 6, which shows us what it looks like to be able to stand firm in the face of ALL that life will throw at us this term.

It shows us how we can stand firm as we enter into the things we’ve been looking forward to: a new school year, the chance to focus on our favourite subjects, the opportunity to make new friends and experience new cities.

And it’ll also teach us to stand firm in the trickier times: whether it’s friends that mock us for our faith, fears about freshers’ week, or worries about GCSEs or A Levels.

Whatever might come our way this Autumn, Ephesians 6 shows us what it means to get the basics firmly in place. It says:

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
(Ephesians 6:10-13)

My vision for the More Precious community of incredible, courageous, brave and godly girls and women is that we would STEP UP this year – that we would armour up and learn what it looks like to be fully equipped with the weapons God gives us: so that when the battle rages around us, we would already be prepared.

I believe we have a God-given duty to model and represent to the world around us and the generations below us that we cannot afford to drift. That we must be deliberate and disciplined about armouring up with the power and love of God: not relying on our own emotions, not being pulled about by the current of this world – but teaching ourselves to become strong and steadfast in Jesus.

Because, just like in a game of chess, you can’t advance without armouring up; you can’t get into a checkmate position for the kingdom if you’ve left yourself open to attack. We are kidding ourselves if we think we are going to see progress in our classrooms, with our friends, in our workplaces, if we are trying to progress without these weapons that God generously entrusts in our hands.

It might sound daunting – but this type of discipline actually comes down to the really small, mundane, daily actions we make. The choices we make when we’re alone. The posture of our hearts when we are challenged or put under strain.

  • ARMOURING UP looks like choosing the way of Jesus when the world pulls you in the opposite direction – even if it costs you your popularity.

  • ARMOURING UP looks like getting down on your knees and ‘doing battle’ each morning: reading the Bible and praying for the day that lies ahead of you

  • ARMOURING UP looks like choosing to champion and pray for the girl that consistently competes with you

  • ARMOURING UP looks like bringing a culture of encouragement where gossip is the norm

  • ARMOURING UP looks like memorising the Word of God: choosing to soak scripture into our minds rather than scroll through Instagram

As we launch ARMOURED, we are praying that a generation of courageous girls and young women would begin stepping up all across the world: to the positions you have been placed in at schools, in friendship groups, universities, cities, families, or places of work.

We are praying that we’d be in warrior-mode in ALL circumstances – whether in sickness or in success, exhaustion or boredom, in the magical moments and in the mundane; armoured up with the word of God, the truth of the gospel and a deep peace that causes us to STAND FIRM.

Are you up for joining us for the next 8 weeks?

If so, then get ready to ARMOUR UP from head to toe!

We can’t wait!
